Papasierra is an independent narrative film about migration, injustice, and resilience. It has been created entirely outside the official systems, by a small group of Iranian refugee filmmakers who continue to fight for their right to exist and tell their stories. This project stands as a testament to survival, dignity, and the desire to speak out through cinema.
The film has received moral support from Canadian Members of Parliament and from the families of the victims of the tragic PS752 disaster. It also carries the backing of the human rights organization ACHR.
The director of this film, in exile after refusing to collaborate with censorship in Iran, had to leave behind two feature films during the aftermath of the Mahsa Revolution. Due to restrictions abroad and lack of legal access to film sets or locations, he was forced to direct this entire production remotely, from a distance.
It is with great pride that we share this work, born out of poetry, love, and tragedy — and we invite you to join us in witnessing this truth on screen.
